The SunRise (SunRise
CDC) has been called to promote justice and peace, demonstrate
compassion and eradicate poverty through the vehicle of
community development. SunRise CDC subscribes to community
development as a liberating process aimed at Economic
Empowerment, Social Justice and Community Transformation.

Goal:
Ensure that the
community has a corps of residents to effectively serve as
leaders in their community
This is a eight
(8) week course. Each person attending and completing the
training will receive a certificate of completion.
Courses:
What is a Leader; Situational Leadership; Introduction to
Communication; Vision and Meeting Management; Capacity Building
and Team Building; Coping with Conflict, Dealing with Diversity,
Being a resource and Implementing What You Have Learned
Instructors for the Institute are:

Ishtai Zee, Lincoln University, Dr. Catherine Hence,
Lincoln University, Arlene Fields, MHS, CPE, Fielding Graduate
University, and Thomas Logan.

Parent Professional Development Institute
- is designed to provide parents with the opportunity to become
full partners with the schools and the community in solving
major educational and behavioral deficits, and to act as
catalyst for school reform and family preservation at three
levels: Enhancing parents’ functioning, Improving Parent-Child
Relationships and Child Functioning, Empowering parents to be
leaders, decision-makers, change agents and partners in the
school and community Listening to the parents and children,
SunRise CDC provides a five module research based curriculum:

SunRise CDC,
the residents, and other community groups formed the Partnership
Zoning Committee to insure that only quality business that will
benefit the residents and what they want will come into the
area. Since the establishment of the Partnership Zoning
Committee, anyone wishing to open a business must appear before
the zoning committee and community with their architectural
plans, deed, or lease, hours of operation, number of employees,
and trash storage and removal plans and contract. The
Partnership Zoning Committee meets the third Thursday of every
month 6:30 PM at the 25the Police District, 3901 Whitaker Ave.
The
Partnership Zoning Committee has formed valuable partnerships to
ensure that their efforts are successful, effective, and meet
the needs of the community Partners: 25th Police District, 43rd
Ward, 49th Ward, East Civic Association, Spanish American Law
Enforcement Association
